Edit: I made a big mistake and left off “Closely Watched Trains,” which is a Czech film that I loved. No offense to “Citizen Kane,” but CWT knocks it out of the top 5.
I’ve had the opportunity to watch a bunch of really awesome films in my History of Film course in Prague. Of all those we’ve watched, the ones pictured are my favorites in order from left to right. “Alice” is a Czech film, “Breathless” is French, “Bicycle Thieves” is Italian, “Knife in the Water” is Polish, and “Citizen Kane” is obviously from the U.S. I would suggest renting any of these if you don’t mind subtitles and movies that are not necessarily normal!
